LEGOLAND Malaysia Review: Best Fun-Filled Family Guide

If you’re planning a family trip to Johor, this Legoland Malaysia review will help you make the most of your visit! We took Hengboi and Hengboi2 to Legoland Malaysia and had an exciting adventure filled with kid-friendly rides, interactive play areas, and LEGO-themed attractions. We purchased our tickets via Klook for a better deal, and since Hengboi2 is under 2 years old, he entered for free! From the best attractions to dining options and accommodations, here’s everything you need to know for a fantastic day at Legoland Malaysia.

How to Get to LEGOLAND Malaysia

LEGOLAND Malaysia is located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, making it easily accessible for both Malaysian and Singaporean visitors. Here’s how you can get there:

By Car: From Johor Bahru city center, LEGOLAND is a 20-minute drive. From Singapore, it takes about 1 hour, depending on traffic at the causeway. For us, we left Singapore early to avoid any potential jam at the causeway, drove to Eco Botanic area for breakfast (~10 mins away), before heading for a fun day at LEGOLAND!

By Bus: Direct buses from Singapore’s Jurong East, Kranji MRT, and Queen Street Terminal go straight to LEGOLAND Malaysia.

By Flight: The nearest airport is Senai International Airport (JHB), around 30 minutes away by car.

LEGOLAND Park

In this LEGOLAND Malaysia guide, I’ll share everything you need to know—including how to get there, the LEGOLAND Malaysia park map, the best kid-friendly attractions, food options, accommodation choices, and how to get cheaper LEGOLAND tickets via Klook.

LEGOLAND Malaysia Park Map & Zones

legoland malaysia resort review

LEGOLAND Malaysia is divided into different zones, each offering unique experiences for kids and families:

  1. The Beginning – Entrance area with shops and guest services.
  2. LEGO Kingdoms – A medieval-themed zone with The Dragon roller coaster.
  3. Land of Adventure – Exciting attractions like Lost Kingdom Adventure and Dino Island.
  4. Imagination – Featuring Build & Test, Observation Tower, and DUPLO Playtown for younger kids.
  5. LEGO City – Kids can drive, steer boats, and play at Rescue Academy.
  6. Miniland – Famous Asian landmarks built entirely from LEGO bricks.
  7. LEGO Technic – Thrilling rides like Project X and LEGO Academy for hands-on fun

With our young boys both below 5 years old, we focused on area 4 to 7 and of course the gift shop at 1. Do check out the height restrictions for the various rides via the Legoland website.

Our LEGOLAND Malaysia Adventure with Hengboi & Hengboi2

To save money, we booked our LEGOLAND Malaysia tickets via Klook, which was cheaper than buying at the gate. Plus, since Hengboi2 is under 2 years old, he entered for free! Below are the rides that we tried out during our time there that we felt were suitable for Hengboi at 4+YO. Aside from the Lego Train and Indoor Lego Fun, Hengboi2 did not meet the height requirement for the other rides as he is below 85cm.

1. Starting with the LEGO Train

Our adventure began with the LEGO Express train, a slow-moving ride that gives kids a tour of the park. It was the perfect warm-up before diving into the attractions.

2. Fire Truck Challenge at Rescue Academy

Next, we headed to the Pumping Fire Truck at LEGO City. This interactive ride lets families race to put out a “fire” by pumping a fire truck and spraying water. The papa and Hengboi had so much fun working as a team! I think this is probably the most tiring ride for the adult as alot of effort made pumping the water!

  • To ride alone, rider must reach a min. height of 120cm.
  • Rider between 86cm to 120cm must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

3. Exploring Mini Marvels in Miniland

At Miniland, Hengboi and Hengboi2 were amazed by the detailed LEGO models of famous landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers, Angkor Wat, and Singapore’s Merlion. It’s a great stop for kids who love LEGO architecture. Give us holiday ideas on where else to explore next!

4. Indoor Fun at Imagination Zone

Since it was quite hot, we headed to the Indoor Planet Playground, a LEGO-building area with air conditioning—a lifesaver in Malaysia’s weather! The boys enjoyed creating and testing their own LEGO structures while we took a short break.

5. Aqua Zone Wave Race at Lego Technic

I took this ride with Hengboi and it was rather thrilling spinning around on the awesome racers. Get ready for more thrills as water bombs explode all around when triggered by passers-by!

  • To ride alone, rider must be above 8 years old with a min height of 130cm.
  • Rider between 105cm to 130cm and between 4 to 8 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult

6. Driving & Boating Fun at LEGO City

Hengboi tried his driving and boating skills at Driving School and Boating School, where kids can steer their own mini cars and boats. Unfortunately, Hengboi2 didn’t meet the height requirement, but he had fun watching his older brother navigate the tracks.

For the boating school:

  • To ride alone, rider must reach a min. height of 130cm.
  •  Rider between 86cm to 130cm must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

For the Driving School, Hengboi did not fulfil the age requirement:

  • No minimum height requirement but
  • Must be above 6 to 12 years old to enjoy this ride.

7. Lego City Airport at LEGO City

Everyone can be a pilot as they climb into colourful airplanes and decide how high or low they want to blaze the skies. This ride wasn’t too fast and Hengboi enjoyed it! Hengboi2 couldn’t join as he didn’t meet the height requirement –

  • minimum height to ride alone is 120cm and
  • rider between 80cm to 120cm must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Dining Options at LEGOLAND Malaysia

There are several food options inside LEGOLAND Malaysia:

  • Market Restaurant – Offers a variety of Asian, Western, and vegetarian dishes.
  • Knight’s Feast – Serves burgers, fried chicken, and snacks in LEGO Kingdoms.
  • Pizza Mania – A great stop for freshly made pizzas.
  • Snack Carts – Located around the park, selling popcorn, ice cream, and hot dogs.

We had lunch at Market Restaurant to maximize time spent there. While food in the park is convenient, prices are on the higher side. If you prefer a budget-friendly option, consider eating outside the park after your visit.

If you’re visiting Legoland Malaysia with the 3-Park Combo Pass, you’ll have access to Legoland Theme Park, SEA LIFE Malaysia, and Legoland Water Park. After an exciting day at the theme park, we checked out SEA LIFE Malaysia and Legoland Water Park. Here’s a breakdown of our experience!

SEA LIFE Malaysia – A Small but Fun Aquarium

SEA LIFE Malaysia is an interactive aquarium located right next to Legoland Malaysia’s main entrance. We decided to visit after our theme park adventure, but honestly, it was smaller than expected. While the boys had fun, we were done exploring in less than an hour, and I don’t think we would return.

What to Expect in SEA LIFE Malaysia

SEA LIFE Malaysia is divided into different themed zones, including:

  • Rockpools – Kids can touch and feel marine creatures like starfish and sea cucumbers.
  • Rainforest Zone – Features freshwater fish and a jungle-like setup.
  • Coral Reef Zone – Showcases colorful coral formations and exotic fish.
  • Ocean Tunnel – The highlight of the attraction, where visitors walk through a tunnel surrounded by sea creatures.
  • Malaysian Rainforest & Seahorse Sanctuary – Dedicated to unique marine life found in Malaysia.
  • Stingray Bay – Home to graceful stingrays swimming around.

While it’s a nice educational stop, the space is quite limited, and you might not spend more than an hour inside.

Legoland Water Park – The Highlight of Our Day!

Compared to SEA LIFE, we had a much better time at Legoland Water Park! The boys enjoyed it, and there were plenty of kid-friendly activities, especially for Hengboi2.

Highlights of Legoland Water Park

Legoland Water Park is one of the biggest water parks in Malaysia, with over 20 slides and attractions. Here are the main zones:

  • Joker Soaker – A giant interactive water playground with slides and a huge tipping bucket.
  • Build-A-Raft River – Kids can design and build their own floating rafts using soft LEGO bricks.
  • DUPLO Splash Safari – A toddler-friendly water play area perfect for younger kids like Hengboi2.
  • LEGO Wave Pool – A wave pool with gentle waves, great for family fun.
  • Red Rush & Brick Blaster – Family raft slides for those looking for adventure.
  • Splash & Swirl – A tube slide that spins you around before dropping you into the pool.

We spent a good amount of time here since the water park was a hit with both boys. It’s definitely a must-visit, especially if you have younger kids who love water play!

Where to Eat After LEGOLAND Malaysia

After a long day of fun, you might want to grab dinner before heading back. Here are two great options nearby:

  1. Eco Botanic / Galleria Area (10 minutes from LEGOLAND Malaysia) – A trendy area with various restaurants, including local Malaysian food, Korean BBQ, Japanese cuisine, and cafes. There’s also nails and massage parlor, big supermarket and occasionally the atrium has kids activities like bouncy castle and kids electric vehicles!
  2. AEON Mall Bukit Indah (15 minutes from LEGOLAND Malaysia) – A large mall with plenty of dining options, a supermarket, and indoor playground!
