Honest Family Review of Safari World Bangkok: Is It Worth Visiting with Kids?

Looking for a fun day trip from Bangkok with young kids? We visited Safari World Bangkok with our two boys and are here to give you an honest, detailed review—from the animal encounters to the food, shows, and whether it’s really worth your time and money.

Spoiler: There are pros and cons, and it depends on what you’re looking for!

Essential Information

Location:
99 Panya Indra Rd, Khwaeng Sam Wa Tawan Tok, Khet Khlong Sam Wa, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10510, Thailand

Timings:
The Safari World in Bangkok remains open on all days except Mondays.

The timings are as follows:
Tuesday to Friday :
Safari Park: 9 AM to 4:30 PM
Marine World: 9 AM to 5:00 PM

Weekends and Holidays:
Safari Park: 9 AM to 4:30 PM
Marine World: 9 AM to 5:00 PM

Getting There: Skip the Transport Package

We booked our Safari World Bangkok admission tickets via Klook, but chose not to include the transport add-on—and we’re glad we didn’t!

Why you should skip the package with transport:

  • Grab rides are cheaper and more flexible. Our ride from Sukhumvit cost only around 400 baht.
  • You control your arrival and departure times, especially useful when traveling with kids who may need a nap or snack break.
  • Avoid waiting for group transfers that often require you to stick to rigid tour timings.

Safari Park: The Drive-Through Experience

We started our visit with the Safari Park, a 45-minute drive through open enclosures where animals roam free.

Timings of the Safari Tour

Animals You’ll See:

  • Herbivores like giraffes, zebras, antelopes, deer, and ostriches
  • Predators like lions, tigers, and bears (in gated zones)
  • Rhinos, camels, and other exotic animals
The Safari Bus that we sat. Its not like the cage type vehicle we took in Japan.

What We Thought:

Compared to places like Fuji Safari Park in Japan, this felt less immersive. The enclosures were large but lacked landscaping and enrichment. Some animals appeared tired or inactive—possibly due to Bangkok’s heat. Still, our boys enjoyed spotting lions and giraffes from the car.

Would we do it again? Maybe not. But if you’ve never done a safari-style drive-through, this can still be exciting for kids.

Marine Park: Where You’ll Spend Most of Your Time

After the drive-through, we entered the Marine Park, which includes animal shows, exhibits, feeding stations, and themed zones. This area is more like a traditional zoo.

Key Attractions:

1. Animal Shows

There are seven daily shows, each running at specific times from 10 AM to 3 PM. You’ll receive a programme at the entrance, but planning ahead helps.

We watched:

  • Dolphin Show
    • Show Timings: Daily at 1:45 PM,
    • Overview: Witness friendly dolphins showcase amazing tricks and interactive performances.
    • Tips: Arrive early to get the best seats and capture great photos!

Other popular shows include:

Orangutan Show:
Monday to Friday: 10:20 AM
Sunday and Saturday: 10:20 AM and 3:45 PM

Sea Lion Show:
Monday to Friday: 11:00 AM
Sunday and Saturday: 11:00 AM and 4:15 PM

Cowboy Stunt:
Monday to Friday: 11:40 AM
Sunday and Saturday: 11:00 AM and 4:40 PM

Elephant Show:
Monday to Friday: 2:15 PM
Sunday and Saturday: 2:15 PM, 3:45 PM

Spy War:
Monday to Sunday: 2:45 PM

Bird Show:
Monday to Friday: 3:45 PM
Sunday and Saturday: 11:00 AM and 3:45 PM

Note: Check the official website for confirmation on show timings

All the shows are great, but the Egg Museum is a must-visit. It features incubators with newly hatched birds and offers a fascinating experience.

2. Animals Feeding

There are several feeding encounters that you can walk in and purchase the feeds. The highlight was the giraffe as it allows you to stand eye-to-eye with dozens of giraffes.

3. Jungle Walks & Mini-Zoo Enclosures

You’ll find walking trails and shaded paths with:

  • Capybaras
  • Lemurs
  • Otters
  • Macaws and parrots
  • Flamingos

These areas were more pleasant and well-maintained than the drive-through. Shaded paths made it bearable in the heat.

4. River Safari Boat Ride

Source: Klook.

A nice break from walking and good for younger kids needing a rest. We skipped this as we saw reviews that the animals along this routes are fake.

Add on the River Safari Ride for an extra 380 THB to extend your adventure on the water if you are still keen

5. Photo Ops

Various spots offer paid photo opportunities with animals (like orangutans or tiger cubs). We skipped these due to ethical concerns, but many families queued up.

Dining: Skip the Buffet Option

We opted for the Klook admission + buffet lunch package—and that’s our biggest regret of the day.

Why You Shouldn’t Add the Buffet:

  • The food was cold, bland, and unappetizing.
  • Mostly mass-cooked rice, noodles, and lukewarm curries.
  • Long queues during lunch hours, especially with tour groups.
The taste was exactly how it look.

The buffet is located in a crowded hall with limited kid-friendly seating. Even our usually-hungry boys took just a few bites.

What to Do Instead:

Apart from these buffet restaurants, there are also two fast food restaurants in the park that serve quick bites to visitors. In addition, the park features several wagons scattered throughout where one can grab a quick snack, ice cream or beverage

These cost a bit more but i believe are worth it for better quality and comfort.

Facilities & Amenities

  • Stroller-friendly? Yes. Most paths are paved, with plenty of space.
  • Restrooms: Decent and available throughout the park.
  • Baby changing areas: Available but bring your own wipes and changing mat.
  • Shaded areas and benches: Limited, so bring hats and portable fans.

Final Tips for Families

  • Arrive early (gates open at 9 AM) to beat the crowds and heat.
  • Map out your show schedule upon entry to avoid missing out.
  • Bring water bottles and snacks for younger kids.
  • Wear comfy shoes—you’ll walk a lot!
  • Bring cash or small notes for feeding stations and vendors.

Is Safari World Bangkok Worth It?

Yes—but only if you plan smart and manage expectations.

The Marine Park is a fun way to introduce kids to animals and shows, and the giraffe feeding alone makes for great memories. But if you’ve been to better-kept or more ethical wildlife parks, you might find this one dated.

Avoid the buffet, skip the transport add-on, and plan your day around the shows your kids will enjoy most.

Would we go again? Probably not—but we’re still glad we experienced it once.
