Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square Review: Best Family-Friendly Hotel in Seoul with Mall Access, Spacious Rooms & Marriott Points Redemption Tips

If you’re looking for a family-friendly hotel in Seoul with spacious rooms, easy subway access, and shopping and dining right downstairs, this detailed Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square review will help you decide if it’s the perfect stay for your trip.

During our special mummy-and-son Seoul trip, we stayed five nights at Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square — a modern Marriott hotel directly connected to Times Square Mall and Yeongdeungpo Station. Even though I redeemed the stay using Marriott Bonvoy points for a basic room (with no upgrade available due to high occupancy), the room was still surprisingly spacious and comfortable compared to many Seoul hotels.

What truly sets this hotel apart is its strategic location away from crowded tourist areas like Myeongdong, while still offering fast access to central Seoul, family-friendly attractions, shopping, dining, and complimentary breakfast perks as a Marriott Platinum Elite member.

📍 Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square Location Review – Perfect for Families

Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square is located in Yeongdeungpo, a vibrant but calmer district compared to tourist-heavy areas.

Instead of squeezing through busy Myeongdong streets with kids, you’ll enjoy:

✔ Wider streets
✔ Less tourist crowds
✔ Easier navigation
✔ Excellent subway connectivity

The hotel sits right beside Yeongdeungpo Station, giving you quick access to:

Hongdae
Seoul Station
Myeongdong

🛍 Hotel Connected to Times Square Mall – Huge Convenience Win

One of the biggest reasons this hotel is perfect for families is its direct connection to Times Square Mall.

Inside you’ll find:

Olive Young (Korean beauty & health must-visit)
Emart (Korean souvenir & snacks must-visit)
Restaurants and food courts
Cafes & dessert shops
Supermarket for snacks
Cinema and shopping outlets

Being able to grab meals or shop without travelling far made our trip so much easier — especially with kids.

👨‍👩‍👦 Kid-Friendly Attractions Near the Hotel

This area is surprisingly packed with family fun:

🦁 Zoolung Indoor Zoo (Inside Times Square Mall)

🔥 Yeongdeungpo Korean BBQ Street – Authentic Local Dining

One evening we explored the famous Yeongdeungpo BBQ Street, a well-loved local food area.

Popular dishes include:

Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly)
Charcoal grilled beef
Unlimited side dishes
Korean stews

This was one of our best meals in Seoul and a must-visit if you stay nearby.

🛏 Room Review – Spacious Even on Marriott Points Redemption

Our stay was redeemed using Marriott Bonvoy points for the basic room category, with no upgrade available during check in.

Courtyard by Marriot Times Square

Even so, the room was impressively spacious by Seoul standards and included:

Large bed
City-view windows
Comfortable seating area
Room for luggage
Large TV
Coffee & tea station
Modern bathroom

The room felt clean, bright, and never cramped — perfect for families.

Housekeeping was excellent.

Well-equipped gym
Easy access to shops and services
Safe surroundings

The mall itself acts as an extended amenity zone.

🍽 Breakfast Review (Platinum Elite Benefit)

The buffet included international cuisine and local delights like:

Eggs, sausages, pastries
Korean soups & rice dishes
Fresh fruit & yoghurt
Coffee & juices

Great variety for both adults and kids and a stress-free start each day.

Executive Floor Lounge (Platinum Elite Benefit)

One of the highlights of our stay at Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square — especially as a Marriott Platinum member — was having access to the Executive Club Lounge. It is located on the 15th floor, operating daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

If you’re travelling with kids, this is honestly such a game changer.

Located on the higher floors of the hotel, the lounge comes with beautiful city views and sky garden access, making it a lovely place to relax while enjoying complimentary food and drinks throughout the day.

☕ All-Day Snacks & Drinks (Perfect for Kids & Parents)

The lounge offers free-flow refreshments from morning till night, including:

  • Coffee, tea, juices, and soft drinks
  • Light snacks like biscuits, pastries, nuts, and small desserts
  • Fruits and simple finger foods

My boys absolutely loved popping by the lounge multiple times a day — it became our little “snack stop” between sightseeing and shopping trips downstairs at Times Square Mall.

For parents, it’s also a great place to sit down, recharge, and enjoy a peaceful moment while the kids munch happily.

💳 How I Redeemed 5 Nights Using Marriott Bonvoy Points (4 + 1 Free!)

One of the biggest advantages of Marriott stays is the fifth night free on points redemptions.

I redeemed:

4 nights with points

  • 1 night free

Saving a huge amount on accommodation in Seoul.

If you travel often with kids, hotel loyalty points are a game changer.
