About Me =)

Hi!

Hi, I’m Heng Mom, proud mother of two energetic boys, Hengboi (born in 2019) and Hengboi2 (born in 2022).

In 2019, I joyfully embraced the role of a first-time mother to a delightful baby boy – HengBoi, affectionately known as my “小王子” (English surname Heng, Chinese 王). Enduring a 16-hour labor, I welcomed this 3.6kg bundle of joy into our lives, forever altering our routines. Gone were the days of uninterrupted sleep and leisurely mornings; instead, every moment became a whirlwind of caregiving tasks. From feeding to bathing, and stealing moments for myself, each activity resembled a sprint. My once ordinary boobs transformed into a milk-producing factory. Yet, with one glance at his cute tiny face, all sacrifices paled in comparison.

In 2022, our family welcomed another precious addition – HengBoi2, another charming boy to our brood. However, his arrival was fraught with challenges, as I contracted COVID-19 during my 39th week of pregnancy. This unexpected turn of events led to a seven-day hospitalization, adding an extra layer of stress to the already nerve-wracking experience of childbirth. Fortunately, HengBoi2 patiently awaited my recovery from isolation before making his grand entrance into the world, ensuring that both mommy and daddy could witness his birth. Despite the initial hurdles, he has blossomed into a sweet and robust little boy, bringing boundless joy to our family.

While I had diligently researched parenting techniques, much of my learning was acquired through hands-on experience. Parenthood, I soon realized, was a demanding role with no monetary compensation. As a first-time mother, initially hesitant even to hold a newborn, the prospect of motherhood intimidated me. Despite my efforts to prepare, nothing truly alleviated the emotional and physical fatigue that accompanied childbirth. Consequently, I hope to offer solace and guidance to fellow first-time mothers by sharing my insights. My topics will encompass breastfeeding, infant care, and all aspects of parenthood under the sun. Now that the borders have reopened, I’ve happily resumed my beloved travels and will be sharing travel tips on my blog as well.

As for the name HengTrails, it reflects the journey we’re on as a family—trails we’ve traveled together, from everyday parenting adventures to our travels around the world. I hope to inspire other families with our experiences and tips.

And being a professional made me a better mother, because by pursuing my dreams, I was modeling for my girls how to pursue their dreams” – Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States
