Morning Activity: 🚂 Step Back in Time on the Miaoli Old Mountain Line Railway! 🏞️

Miaoli Old Mountain Line Railway, originally constructed in the early 20th century, is Taiwan’s first rail biking system. We cycled the small, four-seater train carriages along the railway and enjoyed the panoramic views of Miaoli, which include the famous Shengxing Station and Longteng Bridge.

Longteng Bridge, or otherwise known as the Yutengping Broken Bridge, is a historic site that pays homage to the two earthquakes (one in 1935 and another in 1999) that destroyed it.

You will stop at a pit stop for a phototaking station

Do note that kids below the age of 3 and with height shorter than 95cm are not allowed to participate in this activity. Hence, hengboi2 and the husband had to sit out of this. Its recommended to reserve the Rail Bike via their website as it tend to get sold out quickly during peak period.

The cost of the train tickets are NT$275/adult and NT$220/children. The whole experience is about 1.5 hrs.

We walked along the street and came across these doughnuts that were supposedly famous. Maybe I didn’t eat it when it’s warm, but I prefer mister donuts, haha.

Quite a queue to get this donuts

Chun Shui Tang 春水堂人文茶館

We requested for our driver to stop by Chun Shui Tang 春水堂人文茶館 for my bubble tea fix. Chun Shui Tang is known for the origin of bubble tea. Besides bubble tea, Chun Shui Tang also serves traditional Taiwanese dishes and snacks.

I love the interior , has that vintage charm to it.
A big cup coat NT200, not exactly cheap. My driver shared with us to order 红茶拿铁加珍珠which uses milk instead of 珍珠奶茶which uses powdered milk.
Cute Egg pancakes
Squid and 卤肉饭 bento

Dinner / Supper at 逢甲夜市。

逢甲夜市 is a night market in Xitun District, Taichung, Taiwan and is located next to Feng Chia University. 逢甲夜市 is one of my favorite night market as the night market offers a pleasant shopping experience with it’s variety of food, shopping and activities, and the waking spaces are very spacious as compared to markets like Raohe which i find it very cramped and hard to navigate when bringing kids.

The streets of Fengjia are wider compared to the other night markets we have visited so far. Easier to navigate with a stroller
My all time favorite grilled squid 🐙
Must buy at every night market
Tri color sweet potato ball
So pretty!
Popular fried chicken
鸡蛋糕 (cute egg pancakes) in different shapes
The boys love it!
Games like this are scattered throughout the night market. So there’s always something to engage the little ones whole the adults enjoy their food.

It was almost 10 pm and we decided to take take a taxi back. It cost us NT$100 and took about 5 minutes. We could have walked, but with the speed of the kids and that its late, its faster to take taxi.
