My solo trip to Bangkok was the most spontaneous decision I’ve made in years! As a mom, I hesitated to leave my boys at home, but with my husband’s support, I finally booked a Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escape deal just two weeks before the trip. Economy class wasn’t on promo, but I managed to snag a great deal on a return Business Class ticket—a short 2.5-hour flight, but I was beyond excited!

This trip was not just about exploring Bangkok but also about self-care and mental health. Moms often put themselves last, and this short getaway was a much-needed break to recharge.
How SIA Spontaneous Escape Works

SIA Spontaneous Escapes offers limited-time discounted redemptions on KrisFlyer miles for selected destinations. While economy class wasn’t available, I found a fantastic Business Class deal to Bangkok. If you’re a miles collector, this is a great way to maximize your redemptions.
(Also, check out my post on how I accumulated miles strategically).
Day 1: Arrival & First Indulgences
Changi Airport Terminal 2 Business Class Silverkris Lounge
I arrived early to enjoy the SilverKris Lounge at Changi Airport’s Terminal 2. Unlike my previous Business Class experience with kids, this time, I could fully relax and savor the experience.

Bangkok Airport Rail Transfer to Sukhumvit / Asoke
After arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) at 5 PM, I booked a Grab (approx. 400 THB), but after 20 minutes of waiting, it was still stuck in traffic! So I opted for the Airport Rail Link, which has 8 stops. I alighted at Makkasan Station (35 THB) in less than 30 minutes. From Makkasan Station, walk to Phetchaburi MRT Station (5-minute walk via the skywalk). Take the MRT Blue Line towards Hua Lamphong and alight at Sukhumvit MRT Station (1 stop). If you are headed to Asoke, Transfer to the BTS Asoke Station (connected via skywalk).

➡️ Tip: Preorder your Rabbit Transport Card via Klook and collect it at the airport for easy travel. Read my Guide on Bangkok Airport Rail Transfer.

First Stop: Makkha Health & Spa (BTS Asoke)

📍 Address: 68 Sukhumvit 21 Rd, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
🚆 Nearest BTS Station: Asoke (Google Maps)
Thanks to the traffic jam free transport, I managed to kick off my trip with a relaxing spa session at Makkha Health & Spa, even with a evening flight arrival. This serene wellness retreat is known for its traditional Thai massages in a tranquil setting. I booked a 90-minute aromatherapy massage, and it was pure bliss! The therapist’s skillful techniques helped melt away all the stress, making me feel rejuvenated and ready for my Bangkok adventure. Bonus: They even provided a free tuk-tuk service back to my hotel!
➡️ Tip: Book via Klook for promo price! Check out my post on the luxury spa i went in Bangkok!

Arrival and Check in at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park

Thanks to the Tuk Tuk, i arrived in 10 minutes. Check-in was seamless, and the 5-star luxury hotel exceeded my expectations with its elegant ambiance and impeccable service. My room was spacious, with a comfortable king-sized bed and a shower with great pressure (but bad drainage).

Started the day with a luxurious hotel breakfast before heading out. Remember to try their signature Goji Milkshake and the Thai Omelete!

📍 Emsphere: 626 Sukhumvit Rd, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110

The park behind the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is Benchasiri Park. It is a green space along Sukhumvit Road, offering a peaceful retreat with jogging paths, sculptures, a pond, and a playground. It’s a great spot for relaxation, exercise, or letting kids run around.
The Em District is Bangkok’s ultimate luxury shopping destination, housing three upscale malls: Emporium, EmQuartier, and Emsphere. EmQuartier is famous for its stylish architecture, featuring cascading gardens and an open-air terrace. Emporium caters to high-end shoppers with luxury fashion brands and an exclusive Emprive Cineclub, a premium cinema experience.

Emsphere, the latest addition, is a lifestyle hub featuring unique cafes like Butter Bear Café, trendy fashion stores, and the expansive Emsphere Food Hall, offering a variety of cuisines such as Mak’s Noodle from Hong Kong and Nara Thai Cuisine.

I like the location of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park as it doesn’t felt so touristy and yet it’s walking distance to the BTS and the EM Shopping District!

Lunch at Emporium Food Hall

Tried a mix of Thai street food and international dishes—great for foodies who love variety!

Ikea is just next door and i bought a couple of disposable ziplock bags (few dollars cheaper than back home)! Wish i have more time to shop here!

120-min Massage at Once Upon a Time Spa (Sukhumvit 26)

Hidden in a cozy wooden house in Sukhumvit, Once Upon A Time Spa offers a peaceful, boutique spa experience. The vintage decor and intimate ambiance make it feel like a fairytale escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Booked a 2-hour spa session via Klook for a full-body massage to unwind before more shopping. (Check out my separate Bangkok spa review for more details!)

Dinner at Paste Bangkok (Michelin-Starred)
📍 Address: Gaysorn Village, 999 Ploenchit Road, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330

I decided to treat myself to a fine-dining Thai experience. Paste Restaurant is situated in Gaysorn Village, which is conveniently just opposite CentralWorld! There are also set meals which you could easily book via Klook for convenience. Paste Bangkok is known for its modern twist on traditional Thai flavors, using rare local ingredients to create unique dishes. I really enjoyed my meal (albeit costly – hey it’s Michelin!) here!
Late-Night Shopping at Big C
📍 Address: 97/11 Rajdamri Rd, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330

Stocked up on Thai snacks and souvenirs before calling it a night. Big C Ratchadamri is open daily from 9:00 AM to 2:00 AM!

Day 3: Last-Minute Shopping & Lounge Relaxation

Missed Pratunam Market
The Pratunam area is located around Ratchaprarop Road, in the heart of Bangkok. The area is also conveniently accessible via Ratchathewi BTS Station.
The famous Pratunam Market can be found here. I had hoped to visit Pratunam Market in Bangkok during my trip, but unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to squeeze it in. Known for its affordable fashion, the market offers a wide variety of items like trendy Korean-style hard-shell bags, which are quite popular. Prices range from 200 to 650 baht, making it a great spot for those looking for stylish accessories without breaking the bank. There are also practical items like cloth-covered suitcases, ideal for carrying shopping finds. The market is busy, vibrant, and perfect for bargain hunting, but I’ll have to save it for my next visit to Bangkok.
Another shopping destination I wanted to explore is December, a chic shopping mall located near Pratunam. It’s known for a mix of luxury and more affordable brands, alongside dining and entertainment options. The mall features a blend of local boutiques and international stores, providing a great variety for different tastes. Its modern atmosphere makes it an ideal place for both casual and high-end shoppers

Final Thoughts on My Solo Trip to Bangkok
This trip was an eye-opener—a reminder that moms need solo getaways too! Bangkok was the perfect destination for luxury, shopping, food, and relaxation. I definitely had mum’s guilt during the trip, and visiting and buying toy back helps to lessen that guilt! :p
