Rainforest Wild ASIA is the latest zoological park by Mandai Wildlife Group, set to welcome visitors starting 12th March 2025. When we heard about the Rainforest Wild Asia preview tickets on DBS PayLah!, we jumped at the opportunity to experience this brand-new attraction at Mandai Wildlife Reserve. It turned out to be an amazing multi-generational adventure, as we explored the lush rainforest trails with my elderly parents (65 years old) and my youngest son, who is turning 3.
To my surprise, despite the varied terrain—which included crossing streams, stepping over logs and stones, walking through dark caves, and climbing stairs—both my parents and my toddler managed to walk through most of the trails without difficulty. The park has been thoughtfully designed to be kid- and senior-friendly, with stroller parking zones and wide walkways, making it accessible for all.

In front of each trail, there are usually stroller parking zone and resting area. This is especially thoughtful for family like us who has young kids and senior parents.
Exploring the Unique Zones of Rainforest Wild Asia

Forest Treks
There are 8 zones to explore and the seven different types of Forest Treks are interweaved into each zone, each offering a unique way to experience the different unique zone of the rainforest. Here are the seven types:
- Log Crossing Trek
- Karsts Loop Trek
- Forest Floor Trek
- Root Hollow Trek
- Predator Trek
- Upper Stream Trek
- Lower Stream Trek
1. Starting at the Entrance Gorge
Our Adventure began at the Entrance. The more adventurous one can take the log crossing trek while family with stroller like us can take the elevated walkway.

2. The Karsts – A Scenic Limestone Wonderland
Soon we were transformed into other world! We attempted the Karst Loop Trek which brought us to a breathtaking landscape of towering limestone formations inspired by Southeast Asia’s karst forests.

I like it the detailed infographics placed at the entrance of each trail. It allows me to decide if my party of senior and young are able to navigate it.

As we set off on the trail, it felt like we had stepped out of urban Singapore and into the lush forests of Malaysia, where we used to trek past streams and waterfalls before having kids. It was incredibly refreshing to experience something like this right here in Singapore.

The stairs were easy to navigate for my senior parents and hengboi. It’s really a great bonding experience!

The boys enjoyed watching the primates leaping and swinging effortlessly between the rock formations.

3. Forest Floor – Exploring Nature
As we descended into the Forest Floor, we had fun spotting educational signs about various plants and animals while stepping over logs, making us feel like true rainforest explorers! The immersive jungle sounds added to the adventure.

4. The Outpost – Midway Break
At the Outpost which is next to the Forest Floor, you’ll find the Ranger’s Café, a perfect spot for a refreshing pick-me-up. There’s seating inside the cafe as well.

5. Rock Cascade – Navigating the Predator Trek up Close with the Malayan Tiger
At Rock Cascade, visitors will journey through diverse landscapes, from towering grasses and dense bamboo groves to majestic rainforest trees. As the elevated walkway gradually ascends, it provides a panoramic view of the forest floor and leads to one of the park’s most thrilling encounters—the Malayan tiger habitat.
We made our way to the nearby Predator Trek and the highlights was of course spotting the majestic Malayan Tiger! For a more immersive experience, guests can cross a root bridge, venturing deeper into the habitat, where they may be rewarded with a close-up view of a tiger resting or surveying its surroundings from a rocky perch.
6. The Watering Hole – Crucial Role of Water
The Watering Hole is the largest zone in Rainforest Wild Asia, highlighting the crucial role water plays in sustaining the ecosystem. As visitors step into this vibrant habitat, they may spot the Malayan tapir wandering along the forest floor or catch glimpses of the Malayan sun bear skillfully foraging among the trees. This zone offers a fascinating look into how wildlife depends on water sources, creating a dynamic environment teeming with life.

Upper Stream and Lower Stream Trek

The Upper Stream Trek and Lower Stream Trek were near the Watering Hole and was such an adventure for us! Hengboi2 was thrilled as he hopped across boulders and crossed stream, his excitement written all over his face. I was honestly surprised at how effortlessly he navigated the obstacles—climbing over logs and confidently stepping onto the suspended bridges. The most thrilling part? Crossing the bridge over the crocodile pond, knowing that the mighty estuarine crocodile was lurking just below!

7. The Canopy – A Treetop Experience
Next, we made our way up to the Canopy, where we were treated to a spectacular bird’s-eye view of the rainforest below. The elevated walkways were a highlight, offering a smooth and easy journey, even with the kids in tow. The older boys were absolutely thrilled, running from one end to the other making it tough for me to catch up with the them!

Step onto the Langur Walking Nets and experience the thrill of moving through the treetops just like a langur! Suspended high above the ground, this exhilarating walkway offers a monkey’s-eye view of the rainforest, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural canopy while enjoying a one-of-a-kind aerial adventure.

8. The Cavern – Journey into the Depths of Mulu Caves
One of the most fascinating sections was The Cavern, designed to mimic the Mulu Caves of Sarawak.

Cool details:
- The park collaborated with Sarawak Forestry Corporation to 3D-scan actual cave formations, bringing them to life here.
- Giant black scorpions were hiding among the rocks, which fascinated my boys!

A Hot Day with Fewer Wildlife Sightings
Unfortunately, the weather was extremely hot, so many animals were hiding in the shade. However, we were still lucky enough to spot:
✅ Primates swinging among the rock formations at The Karsts
✅ A majestic Malayan tiger resting at Rock Cascade
✅ A sun bear lounging on the treetop right outside Rainforest Bites
✅ A freshwater turtle basking in a quiet corner
✅ Saltwater crocodiles in the murky waters
✅ A giant black scorpion hiding in The Cavern

Dining Options at Rainforest Wild Asia
Rainforest Wild Asia features four distinct dining options: Rangers Café, Sentinel Foodhall, Watering Hole Café, and Cavern Restaurant, each offering a unique dining experience.

Among them, Cavern Restaurant stands out as the only eatery accessible to non-ticket holders through the gift shop. This 150-seat air-conditioned restaurant is set in a dimly lit, cave-inspired space, enhanced by warm electric candlelight for an immersive ambiance. Located near the exit of Rainforest Wild Asia, it provides a cozy retreat after visitors journey through a man-made cave system modeled after the stunning Mulu Caves of Sarawak.

We decided to have our lunch at Collin’s, located at the entrance. There’s kids meal and the price is comparable to what you see at Rainforest Bites.

For those visiting with kids, you’ll appreciate the shaded seating areas and child-friendly menu options.
What’s Next? Rainforest Wild Africa!
The adventure doesn’t stop here! The next phase of Mandai Wildlife Reserve will see the opening of Rainforest Wild Africa, inspired by the Afro-Tropical region and Madagascar.
This future expansion promises even more immersive landscapes and new wildlife encounters, cementing Mandai as a world-leading wildlife and nature destination that aims to inspire and educate visitors from all walks of life.

Klook.comFinal Thoughts – A Multi-Generational Adventure Worth Experiencing!
We were pleasantly surprised by how well Rainforest Wild Asia caters to both young kids and elderly visitors. Despite some challenging terrain, my 3-year-old and 65-year-old parents managed to complete most of the trails—a testament to how well the park is designed for all ages.
While the hot weather meant fewer wildlife sightings, we still had some amazing encounters with primates, tigers, bears, crocodiles, and even a scorpion!
From watching tigers prowl to navigating hidden caves, this experience was equal parts fun and educational. If you’re looking for an exciting family day out, we highly recommend visiting—especially before the official opening rush!
