After our recent stay in 2024, I’m excited to update this post and share our continued love for Shangri-La Singapore. Over the years, we’ve stayed in different room types across its three distinct wings, each offering a unique experience, and we’re always eager to return for more. This hotel has been a favorite of ours since our first post-COVID staycation in 2020, followed by a memorable babymoon in 2022. Its exceptional kid-friendly features, from the engaging Buds play area to the fun-filled Splash Zone, have consistently made it our top choice for family getaways.

Check-In Process
The check-in experience at Shangri-La Singapore is seamless and welcoming. From the moment you step into the grand lobby, you’re greeted by friendly staff who make the process effortless, even with kids in tow. We have stayed in this hotel for 3 times and our young guests are often treated to thoughtful surprises like coloring kits or small toys.

1. Tower Wing
- The vibrant heart of the hotel, ideal for families.
- Room Types:
- Deluxe Room: Comfortable and modern, perfect for small families.
- Themed Family Suites: Safari, Space, and Underwater-themed suites designed to spark children’s imaginations. All five suites, including the Underwater suite, are located on the ninth floor of Shangri-La Hotel Singapore’s Tower Wing and measure 72 square meters

- Deluxe Family Room:
- Our favorite! We stayed here in 2024! The room includes a window alcove kids’ play area (they loved it!), and easy access to Buds by Shangri-La and the Splash Zone.
- Perfect for families with young kids, these rooms are on the family floor of the Tower Wing, which includes Family Concierge service and Family Pantry.
2. Garden Wing
- A tranquil oasis with spacious balconies overlooking lush greenery.

- The luxurious room comes with a teepee tent for the little ones and a spacious outdoor cabana. Direct access to your own private outdoor patio, makes it perfect for a picnic in the lush greenery.
- Deluxe Room: A peaceful retreat with nature views.
- We purchased vouchers from Klook and used it for our stay in 2020 to celebrate Children’s Day! The package came with gelato, unlimited playtime at Splash Zone and picnic basket. The food items were mostly sandwiches, cheese, grapes, apple crumble (I think), 2 cans of coke and apple juice and we enjoyed it at the lawn.
- The room, while slightly dated compared to Marina Bay Sands, is spacious, well-maintained, and clean. It features a private balcony, a cozy two-seater sofa, and a bathtub that our little one absolutely loved.

- Our choice for a special babymoon in 2022 and a special treat for hengboi before his competitor arrives. The room came with access to The Summit Room for a private breakfast and the exclusive Valley Wing Lounge where we enjoyed our afternoon tea.

- Explorer Zone: Features slides, climbing structures, and ball pits.
- Toddler Zone: Perfect for younger children with soft play equipment.
- Creative Studios: Dedicated areas for art, music, and baking workshops.
- Parents can relax nearby with refreshments while kids immerse themselves in hours of fun.

- The Splash Zone at Shangri-La Singapore is a vibrant outdoor water play area that promises endless fun for kids. Featuring an array of slides, water jets, and splash pads, this exciting space is perfect for cooling off in Singapore’s tropical heat. Thoughtfully designed, the Splash Zone ensures a fun and safe environment for children while offering conveniences for parents.
- Key Features of the Splash Zone:
- Age-Appropriate Play Areas: Separate zones designed for younger toddlers and older kids, with features like simpler splash pads for the little ones and more adventurous slides for older children.
- Interactive Water Features: Slides, water jets, and splash pads keep kids entertained and engaged for hours.
- Parental Comfort: Shaded seating areas around the Splash Zone allow parents to relax while keeping a close eye on their children.
- Our boys loved every moment of splashing around, giggling as they explored the water features. The shaded seating was a lifesaver, giving us a chance to recharge while they played.
- Tips for a Better Experience:

- Plan visits around nap times to maximize your kids’ enjoyment and energy levels.

- Morning Session | 9.00am – 1.30pm
- Afternoon Session | 2.00pm – 6.30pm
- Though our playtime was cut short due to the cooler weather and nap schedules, it was clear that the Splash Zone remains a favorite family activity. It’s an absolute highlight of Shangri-La’s kid-friendly offerings, ensuring fun memories for both children and parents alike.
Swimming Pool
- A large pool surrounded by lush greenery, with a dedicated shallow section for kids.
- The boys enjoyed splashing around and playing with the fountains in the shallow section, which kept them entertained for quite some time. The adults also enjoyed ourself ordering drinks and snacks from the poolside service, while keeping a watching eyes on them.
Health and Fitness
- The hotel also features a well-equipped gym, spa, and tennis courts for adults seeking to unwind.
- We usually don’t have the time to visit the Gym but will definitely try out the spa next!

- The Line
- This international buffet is a highlight of every stay.
- Over the years, The Line has consistently improved its buffet spread. While our 2020 experience was underwhelming due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2024 visit impressed us with:
- Fresh seafood, live cooking stations, and indulgent desserts.
- A dedicated kids’ buffet section that kept the boys excited.
- Breakfast Buffets
- Breakfast at Shangri-La is always a highlight, with extensive international selections catering to both kids and adults.
- The kids’ section features mini pancakes, pastries, and cereals, while the live stations serve fresh eggs, noodles, and more.
- During our 2022 Valley Wing stay, we enjoyed a quieter breakfast at The Summit Room, offering a more curated menu in an elegant setting. Else, breakfast is served at The Line.
- Shang Palace
- A haven for Cantonese cuisine lovers, offering dim sum and signature dishes in an elegant setting.
- Waterfall Ristorante Italiano
- A Mediterranean-inspired restaurant featuring fresh, flavorful dishes like handmade pasta and grilled seafood.
- The Lobby Lounge
- Known for its afternoon tea sets and local delights, perfect for a leisurely treat.
- NAMI Restaurant and Bar
- A fine-dining Japanese experience with premium sushi and stunning views.
- ShopHouse by Shangri-La
- A bakery offering delightful pastries, cakes, and coffee.
- Poolside Bar
- Serves light bites and refreshments by the pool.
On some days, we ordered grab food and we were spoilt for choices since the hotel location is close to orchard.
