The Westin Yilan: A Family Retreat

We checked into Westin Yilan at about 8pm, which was approximately a 20-minute drive from the luodong market, where we will be staying for the next two nights. As we step into the hotel, we were greeted warm hospitality of the staff. Check in was also a breeze as I have communicated my needs via the in app chat that opens up two days prior to check in

Even so late at night, the staff brought us on a short tour around the resort to introduce us to the various facilities

The Room

I was drawn by the in-room onsen, which was a bonus point to us because we can soak when the kids sleep. It’s double win because the boys love the room family-themed – dinosaurs’ world, which comes with a tent, and the in-room onsen was like a big bathtub for the boys! Minibar and snacks in the room are complimentary and replenished daily. I appreciate the modernity of the room, featuring an AI-equipped system that can perform tasks such as playing music upon voice command recognition.

Complimentary in room minibar, there’s also alcoholic drinks! My boys love the soya milk that I could ask for top up via the in-app chat, and two more bottles were delivered to me.

The room that my parents stayed with comes with a balcony overlooking the pond area and was equally modern and spacious.

Their room comes with a balcony. I would have liked it if the family room came with the balcony too!

Breakfast

And let’s not forget to mention the sumptuous breakfast spread at Seasonal Taste, on top of the usual international breakfast fares, it also feature an array of Taiwanese cuisine including Lu rou fan, soya milk, and more—a delicious start to each day.

Facilities

The hotel also has a dedicated kids club, complete with an indoor playground to keep the boys entertained. It’s a pity that during our stay, the swimming pool was closed for renovation. There is also a common use onsen but we didn’t use it as there’s a in room onsen which was so convenient for us.

Location

Despite its somewhat secluded location, Westin Yilan offers a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. While it may not be the most convenient for exploring the surrounding area on foot, having a driver at our disposal made getting around a breeze. Plus, once we settled into the resort, we found that the facilities were so exceptional that there was hardly any reason to venture out at night.

From the inviting outdoor pool to the well-equipped fitness center, Westin Yilan provides everything needed for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights was the complimentary supper served at 9:30 PM, offering a delightful end to the day without having to leave the comfort of the resort. With such excellent amenities and attentive service, Westin Yilan truly feels like a destination in itself, where every moment is an opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate
