HengBoi is 8 months old now. Being in IFC for 6 months already, I have closed both eyes and gotten used to the fact that his cough and runny nose are always going to come and go. Last week his cough and flu came back. We decided to visit a TCM recommended by a friend (I will not name it here because I felt that it wasn’t effective and seems to worsen). Yesterday night he developed a low grade fever. I quickly fed him paracetamol and decided to take urgent leave for the next two days, knowing that he will definitely be rejected by IFC. By now, we have evolved from Kan Chiong parents to parents who knows how to assess the severity of his condition and what medication to give. It has been 3 months of fever free and I believe his immune system is getting stronger.
I have always heard raving reviews about pediatric Tui Na offered by Yu Guo and how babies recovered from long term cough and flu after the sessions. We have brought Baby Heng to Eu Ren San’s Tui Na before but he didn’t really seem to benefit from it. This time round, we decided to go for Yu Guo and were prepared for the long queue. We arrived at Yu Guo at about 4PM and were surprised that we were the only customers there. We were told that due to the COVID-19 situation, their business dropped a lot (haha so in a way we were lucky). Within minutes of registration, our number was called to see the Yi Shi. She checked on him and turns out he was still having low grade fever. According to her, Baby Heng is heaty and has a lot of phlegm. She advised us to avoid meat and food like sweet potato and pumpkin and fruits for the time being (hard to digest). Oh dear.. how to make flavorful veggie meals for HengBoi. She prescribed some herb medicine for consumption (1/2 packet) 3 x a day and herb to be placed on his abdomen (cloth belt given) and for him to come for Tui Na for 4 consecutive days.
Waiting time on weekends is much longer. The trick is to come and get the queue number and then leave for lunch. You can monitor the queue number on their facebook page. Kembangan Plaza has only a 7-11 so you will have to walk out to the coffeeshop outside or drive to somewhere nearby for a meal.
Conclusion: It seems like the raving reviews are true.. I do see much improvement in his condition after 4 days of Tui Na. He is not so chesty, cough less and he has recovered from his flu. I guess I will frequent this place in future to build up his immune system so that he will fall sick less often. The only deterrence is the long waiting time on weekends (can’t imagine how the waiting time pre-COVID is).
April 21 Updates: HengBoi is coming to 2 years old now. We visited Yu Guo again as he have been coughing for almost 3 weeks. The only changes is that you have to make an appointment via their website before visiting. We still have to wait for approximately 45 minutes from our appointment timing. The good thing is his cough seems to get better after after tuina 🙂
