There were times when Baby Heng went on milk strike. Once when he was about 4 months old and once when he was about 8 months old. This resulted in a freezer stash even though i have been a just nice milk supply Mum. I have tried feeding him froZen milk and he wasn’t too keen on it. One of the reasons I read online could be that there’s excess of the enzyme lipase in my breast milk, which begins to break down the milk fat soon after the milk is expressed. It is not harmful to babies but some babies reject it due to the soapy taste. I gather the longer the storage , the stronger the taste. Instead of force feeding him, I decided to think of other ways to utilise it.
1) Breastmilk Lotion
Ingredients
- 150 ml grapeseed oil
- 1.5 tbsp beeswax
- 10 drops of Vitamin E oil
- 150 ml fresh breast milk, at room temperature
- You can adjust the quantity based on the amount of BM used
Methods
- Heat beeswax and grapeseed oil for approximately 3 minutes on Low in the microwave till the wax melts
- Add Vitamin E to the mixture
- Slowly pour in the breastmilk while whisking the mixture quickly. The mixture will thicken
- Leave to cool before using

Remember to store the lotion in a dark container in a cool environment as beeswax will discolour when exposed to light
2) Milk Bath
3) Add into solid food
4) Mix Fresh Expressed BM with equal ratio of Frozen BM and feed it to the Little one
