Just a short train ride from Tokyo, Yokohama is a fantastic destination for a fun family day out. We took the boys on an adventure to the Cup Noodles Museum Yokohama, followed by lunch at Red Brick Warehouse, and wrapped up the day at Kid-O-Kid Indoor Playground after their afternoon nap. Here’s everything we did and how you can plan your own trip!

Here’s a recap of our adventure!
Getting to Yokohama from Tokyo

Yokohama is super easy to reach from Tokyo, taking around 30–40 minutes by train.
We took the Shonan-Shinjuku Line from Shinjuku Station, which is where our hotel is located at. Read about our stay at Hotel Groove Shinjuku.
Ways to get there:
✔️ From Tokyo Station – Take the JR Tokaido Line (25 min) or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line (35 min).
✔️ From Shinjuku Station – Take the JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line (35 min).
✔️ From Shibuya Station – Take the Tokyu Toyoko Line (40 min) to Minatomirai Station.
From Minatomirai Station, it’s just a 10-minute walk to the Cup Noodles Museum.
Exploring the Cup Noodles Museum
Our first stop of the day was the Cup Noodles Museum, where we learned all about instant noodles and their inventor, Momofuku Ando. The boys were amazed by the Instant Noodles History Cube, which showcased a wall of instant noodles from around the world. One of the coolest exhibits was a replica of Momofuku Ando’s work shed, where he first experimented with making instant ramen. It was fun to see how a simple idea became a worldwide food revolution!
Making Our Own Cup Noodles

The highlight of our visit was definitely the My Cup Noodles Factory, where we got to design and customize our own instant noodles.
How It Works:
✔️ Decorate the Cup – The boys loved drawing on their cups with colorful markers.
✔️ Choose the Soup Base – We picked from Original, Seafood, Curry, and Chili Tomato.
✔️ Pick Four Toppings – There were so many fun choices, like cheese, shrimp, and Naruto fish cakes.
✔️ Sealing the Cup – The final step was watching our cup noodles get vacuum-sealed and packed in an inflatable bag to bring home.It was such a fun and hands-on activity, and the boys were so proud of their creations!

Cup Noodles Park – A Noodle-Themed Playground!
After making our cup noodles, Hengboi had a blast at the Cup Noodles Park, an indoor playground designed like a giant noodle factory! Hengboi2 couldn’t enter as there was height restrictions for the playground!
Here, He got to pretend to be noodles going through the production process—climbing, sliding, and jumping through different obstacle courses. The entire play area was colorful, energetic, and perfect for little kids who love to move!

Lunch at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse

Instead of eating at the museum’s Noodles Bazaar, we took a short walk to the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, a historic site turned into a shopping and dining complex.

The Red Brick Warehouse is a beautiful waterfront area filled with:
✔️ Restaurants and cafes – Offering a variety of Japanese and international food.
✔️ Boutique shops – Selling handmade crafts, souvenirs, and unique finds.
✔️ Outdoor space – Perfect for kids to run around and enjoy the sea breeze.
For lunch, we found a dining place similar to a food court in Singapore where there’s many food stalls, and after eating, the boys enjoyed running around the open plaza outside while we soaked in the relaxing atmosphere.

Afternoon Nap & Playtime at Kid-O-Kid Playground
After all the excitement, we it was nap time on the go for the kids —because tired kids mean cranky kids!
Once the boys were well-rested, we took them to Kid-O-Kid, an indoor playground perfect for active toddlers and young kids.

Located in MARK IS Minatomirai, Kid-O-Kid is a huge play space filled with different activity zones, including:
✔️ Climbing structures – Soft play areas for safe climbing and jumping.
✔️ Ball pits & slides – Endless fun for younger kids.
✔️ Imaginative play stations – Areas for pretend play and sensory exploration.
✔️ Trampoline zone – A favorite for the boys! It was the perfect way for them to burn off extra energy before heading back for dinner.

I like it that it’s not crowded and clean! It also has different play zones catering to different ages which works well for my both boys!
