Day 1: Arrival and Family Fun

After checking into Renaissance Kuala Lumpur, we headed to Pavilion Bukit Jalil for a relaxed first day.

We had lunch at Mdm Kwan’s, a great introduction to Malaysian food in a comfortable mall setting that works well for families. Mdm Kwan’s is a well-known Malaysian restaurant located inside Pavilion Bukit Jalil, offering a comfortable and air-conditioned dining environment that is very suitable for families with young children. The menu features popular local dishes such as nasi lemak, curry laksa, and satay, served in a more polished and tourist-friendly setting compared to typical hawker stalls. It’s a great introduction to Malaysian cuisine without overwhelming kids on the first day.

After lunch, the kids spent time at Little Pirates Playland (Pavilion Bukit Jalil), which is an indoor playground that’s perfect for younger children to ease into the trip without too much travel or fatigue on Day 1. Little Pirates Playland is a compact indoor playground located within Pavilion Bukit Jalil, designed mainly for toddlers and younger children. The playground features soft play structures, mini slides, climbing areas, and ball pits that allow children to explore safely in a controlled indoor environment. It is especially suitable for families who want a light first-day activity without travelling far from the mall, making it a convenient option for easing kids into the holiday mood after arrival.

We like keeping Day 1 light like this because travelling with kids always involves adjusting to a new routine.

Day 2 — Skyline Luge KL + Cocoo+ Café Playground

We started the day at Skyline Luge Kuala Lumpur (Gamuda Gardens). Skyline Luge Kuala Lumpur is an outdoor gravity-powered ride experience located at Gamuda Gardens, offering families a fun and beginner-friendly activity suitable for both adults and children. Riders control small luge carts down winding tracks, with different difficulty levels available depending on comfort. The chairlift ride up the hill is also part of the experience, offering scenic views of the surrounding greenery. It is a popular attraction for families looking for a mix of mild adventure and outdoor fun.

For lunch, we visited Cocoo+ at Plaza Arkadia, a café playground concept that combines dining and play in one space. The package we took included:

Day 3 — Lalaport KL

We spent the day at Lalaport Kuala Lumpur, one of the newer malls in KL that feels more lifestyle and experience-driven compared to traditional malls. It is a lifestyle-focused mall featuring Japanese-inspired design elements, open-air rooftop spaces, and themed dining areas. Families will find a mix of retail, food, and entertainment, including seasonal pop-ups and character-themed attractions. The rooftop area provides an open space for children to walk around safely while parents take a short break from indoor mall environments.

Jungle Gym at Lalaport

An ndoor playground designed for children aged approximately 2–10 years old. It features slides, climbing structures, obstacle zones, and soft play areas that encourage active exploration and physical play. The environment is fully indoor and air-conditioned, making it comfortable for extended play sessions regardless of weather. Parents can relax in nearby seating areas or cafés while keeping an eye on their children, making it a strong option for families looking for both entertainment and convenience.

Early Dinner at Chef Kecik Boulangerie

Chef Kecik Boulangerie is a bakery located beside Lalaport KL known for its freshly baked pastries and artisanal bread selection and great view. It is a popular stop for families looking café-style meals during mall visits.

Dinner at Jalan Alor

If staying longer, you can head to Jalan Alor for local street food. Jalan Alor is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most famous street food destinations, offering a lively night market atmosphere filled with local Malaysian and regional dishes. Families can walk through rows of food stalls offering grilled seafood, noodles, skewers, and desserts. While it can be busy, it is a great cultural experience for older children to observe the vibrant local food scene.

5 Day Itinerary Kuala Lumpur for Families

If you have a longer trip, this 5 day Kuala Lumpur itinerary allows a more relaxed pace with a good mix of indoor activities, attractions, cafés, and shopping.

Day 4 — Indoor Theme Parks in Kuala Lumpur

We spent almost the entire day at HarborLand KL, one of the largest indoor playgrounds in Kuala Lumpur.

HarborLand Kuala Lumpur

HarborLand is a large indoor playground located in Kuala Lumpur designed for children of multiple age groups, from toddlers to older kids. It features a wide range of play zones including giant slides, obstacle courses, climbing structures, ball pits, and themed role-play areas. The playground is fully air-conditioned and structured in a way that allows children to explore freely while remaining in a safe and enclosed environment. For parents, seating areas are available throughout the facility, making it possible to supervise while also taking breaks.

Lunch was conveniently at ParaThai right beside the playground.

While the kids continued playing, I went for a relaxing head spa at Goyo, making this one of those rare “kids entertained + parents recharge” days.

Goyo Head Spa is a wellness spa offering head spa and relaxation treatments for adults. Located near the HarborLand area, it provides a convenient option for parents to take a break while children are engaged in indoor play activities.

Day 5 — KLCC Day: Petrosains, SuperPark & Water Show

We spent the whole day around KLCC.

Petrosains Discovery Centre

We started at Petrosains Discovery Centre, one of the best educational attractions in KL for kids. The interactive science exhibits and Energy Capsule experience kept the boys engaged for hours.

Petrosains is an interactive science discovery centre located inside Suria KLCC, designed to make science engaging for children through hands-on exhibits and immersive learning experiences. The attraction includes themed zones covering energy, space, and technology, with interactive stations that allow children to experiment and explore. One of the highlights is the Energy Capsule ride, which simulates movement and motion-based experiences in a fun educational format

For lunch, we went to Burger & Lobster, which was a nostalgic treat since there’s no longer an outlet in Singapore.

SuperPark Malaysia

After that, we headed to SuperPark Malaysia for more active play.

SuperPark Malaysia is an indoor activity park located near KLCC that offers a variety of physical play zones including trampolines, obstacle courses, climbing walls, and sports-based games. It is designed for active children who enjoy movement-based play in a safe indoor environment. The park caters to a wide age range, making it suitable for both younger and older children in the same family.

KLCC Symphony Lake Water Show

In the evening, we stayed for the KLCC Symphony Lake Water Show, a simple but memorable free activity with music, fountains, and the Petronas Twin Towers backdrop.

The KLCC Symphony Lake Water Show is a free nightly attraction located at Suria KLCC featuring synchronized fountain displays set to music and lights. The show takes place against the backdrop of the Petronas Twin Towers, making it a popular evening activity for families. It typically runs multiple times each evening, with different timings depending on the day.

We ended the night with a buffet dinner at Shangri-La.

Day 6 — KL Water Park Guide

We spent the morning at SplashMania Waterpark, one of the most family-friendly waterparks near KL.

Splashmania, located in Gamuda Cove, is a family-friendly waterpark designed for kids of all ages. With a variety of water slides, a wave pool, lazy river, and dedicated children’s splash zones, little ones can safely enjoy the water while parents relax nearby.The park also provides locker facilities, dining options, and shaded rest areas, making it easy for families to spend an entire day without hassle. It’s perfect for both toddlers and older kids, and a must-visit for families looking to beat the heat while having fun together.

In the evening, we explored Petaling Street (Chinatown) for street food, snacks, and night market vibes.

It is especially lively in the evening when food stalls and vendors open for business. Families can explore a variety of local snacks, desserts, and cultural items while experiencing a more traditional side of Kuala Lumpur.

Day 7: Space & Time Cube+ + Departure Day

We intentionally kept our last day slow and easy.

After checking out, we visited Space & Time Cube+, an immersive digital attraction filled with interactive light rooms and visual installations that kids especially enjoy.

The Space & Time Cube Museum is an interactive museum that combines art, science, and optical illusions. Families can explore eight immersive zones featuring gravity-defying rooms, 3D installations, and photo-friendly exhibits.Ideal for children aged 3 and above, the museum encourages curiosity, creativity, and playful learning. Adults will enjoy it just as much as kids, making it a perfect family outing!

After that, we had a simple brunch at Maru Café , walking distance from Renaissance Hotel, returned to the hotel to pick up our luggage and then headed to the airport for our evening flight home.

Most rides within the city center cost between RM10–RM25, making it budget-friendly compared to navigating multiple train lines.
